Product Description
Leave it to simplehuman to revolutionize the way we wash our hands. The sensor soap pump dispenses soap touch-free to help avoid cross-contamination. Simply place your hand under the sensor to dispense soap automatically. An optional LED light timer blinks for 20 seconds to indicate how long to lather for germ-free hands. Four volume settings allow the pump to dispense preset amounts of soap or lotion. Operates on 4 AA batteries (not included).

★★★★☆ So far so good
So far it's worked fine. I had no issues with getting it to dispense a thick liquid hand soap like some other people have reported. May be Simplehuman has updated the product? I also read the instructions before I set it up.

★☆☆☆☆ I don't like it at all
Does not ever stay primed, first batts I put in ran out in a few days (new out of a 48ct pack) so not old batts. Was going to send it back, but lost the return label (stupid me). Even on the most volume it does not put out enough product, you have to run your hand under it 3 or 4 times to get enough soap. I like the look of it but got a 20 buck one at Bed, Bath and Beyond that works great with no problems.

★★☆☆☆ After excellent performance for three months, now it would not stop dispensing...help!
We love this gadget,...when it worked, that is. Several weeks ago, my husband noticed that this continuously dispensed soap when nobody or nothing was between the sensors. He removed the soap (whatever was left) and removed the batteries. When I saw it, I replaced the batteries and it worked again. This happened twice already.

Then today, my older son refilled it. While I was baking, I heard the running motor, and traced it coming from this. I tried the same trick as above, but this time it would not resolve. I wonder if anyone else had the same problem?

If anyone can help me troubleshoot this, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, the price for this only to give up on us after 3 months is just too much.

★★★★★ Just the right amount of soap, reliably
Nine months ago, one of these showed up by the sink in the kitchen at my office, which is shared by around 50 people. I have been intrigued as I watched it reliably deliver a "dab" of diswhashing soap countless times a day. My first impression was "somebody's throwing money away at work". The design was attractive, and as I used it, I noticed it did not leak. Best of all, it was the perfect way to get soap on very dirty or greasy hands without getting grease or dirt on the soap container.

Finally, I was at home last week, trying to wipe the dripped soap from the regular dispenser off our counter, and said, "wait a minute, I know a better way," and placed an order. Because this thing had held up so well in our office, I had no trepidation about paying the somewhat hefty price. That said, when this arrived, my wife and I had it up and running in five minutes, although I will concede the instructions are "succinct". I can see how the priming "scrap of paper" could have been missed, but it also seems to be clear in the rest of the packaging what to do.

This is an attractive and very functional tool and is elegant in design and manufacture. Simplehuman obviously gives great thought to the design and manufacture of their products, and as my wife looked through their catalog, I am reconciled that this will turn out to be more expensive than the purchase price (as my wife identifies other needs).

I believe we will end up saving significant money by not wasting nearly as much dishwashing soap. I find the amount dispensed entirely adequate to cleaning greasy pots and pans, so I'm sure it's fine for ordinary dishes too. I will be washing more dishes by hand now that my wife has noticed the Simplehuman dish draining racks in their catalog.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

★★★★★ Where was this item when my children were small?
My husband and I are really enjoying this dispenser. My only regret is that we didn't have one when our children were small. It works first time-every time and dispenses the perfect amount of soap. Also, since I work at a hospital and know that hand washing is one of the universal precautions for protection against germs, I set up my dispenser where the little blue light would flash for 20 seconds which is the standard time frame for thoroughly washing one's hands. The dispenser is sleek and modern-looking and there is no guesswork as to when you need to refill with soap. Very valuable product!!
